Looking after yourself

Make time to look after yourself!

Stay fit and healthy and know how to treat minor ailments at home. This has benefits for everyone. You will spend less time using NHS services and get more enjoyment out of life.

Follow our self-care tips

  • Keep a well-stocked medicine cabinet and first aid kit to treat minor illnesses and injuries at home.
  • Speak to your local pharmacist for advice on minor ailments. No appointment needed.
  • Antibiotics will not help treat a virus.
  • Try to get enough sleep.
  • Aim for a healthy diet, plenty of fluids and regular exercise.
  • Do things you enjoy to help you relax.

Please use the right service when you are ill.  Whether you feel ill or not, please make sure you are registered with a GP that is local to you.

If your GP has no appointments available, they can book you one at a Bromley GP Alliance access hub. These are open from 4pm to 8pm in the evening and 8am to 8pm at weekends.
