How we spend money


Our accounts have been prepared under a Direction issued by the NHS Commissioning Board under the National Health Service Act 2006 (as amended).

We received £439.977 million in 2016/17 to commission health services for local residents. See how this money is spent.

Our responsibility is to balance the budget that we have been given and use it to produce improved health outcomes for Bromley residents.

Understanding the health of our residents

The population of Bromley continues to grow. Bromley has a greater number of older residents than any other London borough. Although the number of 0– 4 year olds is projected to decrease by the year 2020, there has been an increase in the number of live births since 2002. Health services need to provide for an increasing number of people, and older people and children are higher users of health and social care services. As well as working with doctors, other clinicians and members of the public to understand what people need from their NHS, we also work closely with Bromley Council’s public health team to 10

understand the health issues and needs amongst our communities. This includes developing an assessment of health needs based on available evidence. This is called the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)
