NHS Bromley Commissioning Clinical Group (CCG) has published its Annual Report and Accounts for 2015/2016.
Dr Andrew Parson, Chair of the CCG said, “We are delighted to share our annual report and accounts for 2015/16. We will be formally presenting the report at our Annual General Meeting on Monday 26 September 2016. During our third year as a CCG, we saw many of our longer term improvement plans start to take real effect. For example, more people with uncomplicated diabetes can now get all the care they need in their GP practice rather than having to go into hospital, we have surpassed the national target for diagnosing people with dementia which means more people are getting the support and treatment they need much earlier and have put in place plans to transform the delivery of emotional health and wellbeing services for children and young people.
“Our report also reflects on the challenges facing local services. We are working closely with hospital and community health providers to ensure that patients get high quality care when they need it. However, we cannot ignore the need to change the way that health services are delivered to meet the growing needs for care. This is one of the greatest challenges for the NHS. Although progress has been made to help people live well with complex and long term conditions, we must deliver services in a different way. We must direct our resources towards keeping people well, enabling them to live as independently as possible, treating them close to home and keeping them out of hospital unless they really need to be there. To do this, whole health and care system change is needed. Working together with local partner organisations, clinicians and the public, we have developed ambitious plans to provide much more integrated, proactive and people centred care. We have made good progress this year through the development of integrated care networks – a new operating model. Through these networks, different organisations and professionals will work together more closely and effectively and allow people to access services and support more easily at the right time and in the right place”.
