Junior doctors' industrial action – Services at King’s

Date: 11 January 2016

The British Medical Association (BMA) confirmed last week that junior doctors will be taking industrial action on Tuesday 12 January, Tuesday 26 January, Wednesday 27 January and Wednesday 10 February.

King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are putting plans in place to ensure they are able to deliver safe services for patients on each of these days.  The priority, as always, will be to ensure that all urgent and emergency services at the hospitals run as normal.

Unfortunately, the Trust anticipate having to cancel some non-urgent operations and/or outpatient appointments on each of the strike days.   They are assessing the likely impact of the industrial action, and what it means for the services they provide as they don’t want to cancel any non-urgent operations or outpatient appointments unnecessarily.

In the event that any patient appointments or scheduled operations have to be re-arranged, the Trust will contact any patients affected as far in advance as possible. All patients will be offered a new date in due course.  We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Trust will provide further updates on their website, plus Facebook and Twitter accounts.
