Phlebotomy Services in Bromley

Date: 02 October 2015

Time: 01:00

We know that waiting times for blood taking in Bromley could be better. Although the number of GP practices offering blood taking has more than doubled since 2011 and there are walk-in blood taking clinics available, there are still improvements to be made.  There can be long waiting times at hospital walk-in clinics at busy times, it is easier for some patients to get to clinics than others, and provision for children is more limited than it is for adults.

With this in mind, we are seeking views from residents who are registered with a Bromley GP about their experiences of using blood taking services, following a request for a test by their GP.   We will also be talking to GP practices and our other blood taking clinics (provided by Bromley Healthcare and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust) to get their views on the services.

Our aim is to understand how our residents currently access blood taking services and if the services are meeting their needs.  For example, how easy or difficult it is to get to a clinic, what times of day the services run and what the waiting times are for getting a booked appointment or being seen in a walk-in clinic. We will use what people tell us to help shape recommendations for how we can best use our resources to improve access to blood taking services.
