Review of blood taking services – thank you for your feedback

Date: 19 January 2016

Although the number of GP practices offering blood taking  in Bromley has more than doubled since 2011 and there are walk in blood taking clinics available, patients have indicated that waiting times for blood taking are too long.

With this in mind, at the end of last year, we did a review of these services and asked local  people to share their experiences and what improvements they would like to see.

Over 300 people responded to our survey about blood taking services.   Those who responded came from across Bromley and had experience of blood taking services through hospital visits, GP appointments, home visits and using community health services.    We also held a number of focus groups to target particular communities such as people from a black and minority ethnic background, those using mental health services and people with HIV and AIDS.  A further focus group was held with members of our Bromley Patient Advisory Group.

We also gathered feedback from staff who work in general practice and blood taking services at the Princess Royal University Hospital, Beckenham Beacon, Orpington Hospital and community services provided by Bromley Healthcare.
